TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı Responds to "Palestinization of Cyprus" Claims

TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, has shared an interview he gave to a Turkish newspaper on his social media pages. The newspaper, which frequently promotes the idea that "Cyprus is being Palestinianized," allegedly chose not to publish the interview as it did not align with their narrative.

Arıklı highlighted that out of 9,408 properties sold to foreigners between 2021 and 2024 in TRNC, only 611 were purchased by Israeli citizens, making up just 6.49% of the total sales. He emphasized that citizens of the EU, Turkey, Russia, and Iran have acquired significantly more properties, yet no similar concerns were raised about them.

Arıklı pointed out that exaggerated claims regarding land sales are primarily fueled by Greek Cypriot intelligence to disrupt TRNC’s economic growth and foreign investment. He called for a clear distinction between property sales and land sales, advocating for stricter land sale restrictions while allowing controlled property investments to boost the economy.
